The site need a change. I couldn’t really put my finger on what it need besides better content. Anyway PhillyBred.com feels more natural than having my name out there. So here’s to freedom to say whatever without having your name attached to it.
Just testing out a new plugin. A plugin that simiplifies the wordpress admin for my site. So I’ll be truly blogging on the go. Let’s see how this works out.
With more activity comes updating… Upgraded my Wordpress installation and it killed all my Ultimate Tag Warrior. Now I’m trying to redo all my tags and its not going well. My Mac OS X 10.5 upgrade was less painful, wish me luck.
I had just upgraded to Wordpress 2.1. So far tinymce still isn’t supported by Safari and my Podpress plugin just crapped out. And it was suppose to be better and faster than Windows 95?
*Update* Well, I just downgraded back to Wordpress 2.0.7 and I have my Podpress functionality back, but I just lost all my static pages. I’m really having one of ‘those kinda’ weeks.
I must be trully full of myself because I when and started to give out my old Wordpress theme. Yes, it is a butchered version of Thought Mechanics’ Conestoga Street and yes, I should be shot for for still using tables, hacking off a perfectly good sidebar and wrapping up some of my vomit in a pretty bow, giving it out and saying ‘Happy Holidays from the Hendersons!’
Anyway, the this single column theme works with Wordpress 2.0 and higher. Provides a template for individual pages and an archive page.
Instructions:
- Unzip Folder.
- Upload to Themes folder within WP-Content.
- Go to Presentation.
- Select North Farson Street.
- Gouch eyes out in horror.
My indecisiveness has gotten the best of me and I couldn’t figure out what to do with my sidebar so I just decided to drop it completely. Luckily the one column look is starting to grow on me, albeit slowly.
In other development news, I re-add Google adsense on the entry pages and I if anyone had issues playing the videos from the podcast, the latest version of Quicktime should correct the problem.

8 Comments Published June 6th, 2006 in Blackground, Noteworthy and Site Dev…Niggas can’t see me. I’ve been told that maybe if I change my content or narrow my interests, Phillybred.com can be notice, or that my site doesn’t fit into one particular niche. As if I’m the one only gay, comic book reading, straight porn addicted, Doctor Who watching, Macintosh owning, 25 going on 26 year old black man on the Internet. There’s got to be at least someone else who’s like that. I digress. But why would I want to change something that’s a part of me? This site is supposed to represent me and that’s the problem you find with most blogs. Folks are constantly trying to be something they’re not and lack substance. I’ve been doing this for too long, I don’t need to fit in that badly?
At first not having PhillyBred.com recognized anywhere use to eat away at me, now it doesn’t bother me, and in fact I’m embracing it. So fuck a 9rules.com, fuck a Six24.com, and fuck a webring.

Don’tcha just love websites that have whole bunch of different things that have absolutely no purpose what so ever? If you do, then you’re at the right blog. I just added a side bar to the individual entry pages, threw in Related Post plugin and moved my Social Bookmarking. Does it make Phillybred.com any better? Nah, but it certianly made the time between 530am and 3pm move really fast. Now I’m afraid to even look at this thing in IE.
Currently trying out a new Wordpress theme, Conestoga Street by Theron Parlin. While its not feature heavy like K2 it does the minimal look I crave. So excuse the mess as I try to hammer out all the kinks.
God, I hate Internet Explorer. I really fucking do. I’ve been spending the last few days trying to make Phillybred.com XHTML 1.1 compliant which is not a hard to do, just soooo fucking tedious. I have to go back and edit 520+ entries correcting stupid shit that worked in Wordpress 1.x but not 2.x like line breaks and alternate image tags.
But my major problem has been cross-browser compatibility. With the lack of my sidebar, PhillyBred.com simply craps out in Internet Explorer, especially the footer. I don’t want to alienate 75% of my reasdership by going “Too Cool for IE” but I’m really between a rock and a hard place. And all of this editing is keeping me from posting. God I hate IE.
